What is Psalm Drummers

Psalm Drummers is an international network of drummers and percussionist who believe they are called to use their drum to declare the Kingdom of God. they use their drums for prayer, worship, and the prophetic.

How Psalm Drummers started

Psalm Drummer's founder is Terl Bryant, an inspirational teacher, producer drummer and percussionist from London, England. Terl has for many years played professionally in both the Christian and mainstream music industry. He travels and teaches at churches and events and offers 1-2-1 sessions for individuals seeking to grow in Christ. Terl and his wife Juliet have four children and are part of the leadership team at Christ Church, Fulham, London.  Terl is director of The Voice of Drums and The Psalm Trust (a Registered UK Charity no. 1089104), which oversees the work and vision. Terl writes:

The vision for Psalm Drummers came through a dream [Oct '94]. I was standing in a semi-circle with a number of other drummers. We were worshipping and declaring God's kingdom, pounding our drums whilst singingrom Psalm 97], "The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice." My head was bowed because the light of God's presence was so bright. Later in the dream I saw the word 'PSALM' written in capital letters. Around the same time I believe the Lord spoke, "it's time to gather the drummers". These and other events prompted a move in faith to start Psalm Drummers.

I believe God is restoring the drum to the Church (in praise and worship and more and is calling drummers, both individually and corporately, to drum out a new beat - a beat that carries the heart and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The purpose is to declare His presence. I have seen drumming to be a powerful voice for prayer and praise: it can unify the divided, encourage the disheartened, and stir up much needed courage within the Church in our times.

Activities

Terl Bryant and Psalm Drumming friends have served the church and contributed to many events. They have been involved with: prayer meetings, healing and ministry, teaching, presenting workshops, and played at numerous worship and celebration events. These have included Soul Survivor, New Wine, The Call UK, Worship Together, Spring Harvest, BBC Songs of Praise, OneDay03 USA, March for Jesus, Bible Society events, Cross Rhythms Festival, Alpha conferences, Cornerstone Festival USA, Greenbelt Festival, UK, Theology Through The Arts with Bishop John Sentamu and Revd. Dr. Jeremy Begbie. Terl and friends have been on missions to the USA, Czech Republic, Holland, Switzerland, and Africa, and at home have taken teams out on the streets and into nightclubs. They have also been recorded on a number of worship albums.
